Megaman 9

Journal Entry: Sat Jul 12, 2008, 11:18 PM
If you haven't heard about Megaman 9 yet, you need to get the net. If you're reading this then obviously you have it already, but it's always beneficial to keep informed with the current news between trips to the porn sites.

Anyway, Megaman 9 is coming and it's going to be awesome. For me it's a belated apology from Capcom for all the crap and negligence they've exhibited for the past 10 years.

Going back to the 8-bit style is a master stroke of genius. Rather than trying to slap on a pretty cover, game designers use their creativity to make the most out of limited technology. I would think greater technology would unlock greater possibilities, but Megaman 9 will undoubtedly prove that such is not always so.

On the personal side, I've responded to the small number of nay-sayers who have expressed their contempt for 9. In the form of two YOUTUBE videos. That's right. I've actually gone in front of the camera and expressed myself in a satyric fashion where I'll be able to reach many people of poor taste and low intelligence, YouTube.com.

These "rants" are not to be taken seriously. I do not take people who denounce older games as bad because of their "inferior" graphics or lack of story seriously, ergo I chose not to respond in a serious fashion.

But for the amusement of others I have submitted these two videos:

I hope these foolish displays won't make you think any less of me (if that's even possible). I was just having fun while making a point.

Downloading Deviant Art

Journal Entry: Sat Jul 5, 2008, 1:20 PM
Have you ever pondered this question: "Why would someone want to download my art"?

Until recently I haven't paid it much mind. But recently I've been thinking about it. I don't consider myself all that great an artist, and lord knows any qualified art instructor would likely find a world of flaws in my work. So it's highly unlikely anyone would use it for reference material.

Collecting fan art is one thing. Though if anyone were to use it on other sites I would think they'd at least have the decency to ask permission or give due credit. But most of my stuff is based on my original characters, characters most people either don't know or couldn't care less about.

I'm not saying downloading my art is bad, it's irrelevant to me. I'm simply curious as to why anyone would want to. I don't plan on disabling the download feature on my deviations either. The way I see it, if anyone is interested enough to look at my art, they're more than welcome to do so.

There is one persisting nag that rests in the back of my mind... plagiarism. Would anyone actually pass my art off as their own? Would they copy or trace it? It seems very unlikely. Besides, the old saying goes that a lie always comes back to get you. This is especially true when it comes to art. Copied works are easy to discern from freehand works. It can seriously compromise one's credibility, plus you don't learn a whole lot from copying images, trust me I know.

That being said, this whole subject boils down to simple curiosity. I guess I should feel flattered that people like my stuff enough to download it.

George Carlin (1937-2008)

Journal Entry: Mon Jun 23, 2008, 7:07 AM
Yesterday one of the greatest comedic minds of our time passed away. Sad, but true, George is gone. He delighted, offended and inspired millions of fans for over fifty years with his irreverent brand of humor. Taking shots at everything from politics to bowel movements, philosophy to pornography.

For me, he was more than a simple funny man, George was an inspiration unlike any other. His words guided me through those rough formative years of adolescence, unwinding my emotional frustration and sexual confusion in a plethora of enlightenment and laughter. To this day I still frequently replay his timeless comedy routines on my DVD and iPod. Not two months ago I had the good fortune of actually seeing the great performer in concert at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore, MD.

He will forever live on in my heart and my memory as the Socrates of our time. A philosopher, a truth-teller, an entertainer, a man who shed light and guided us through the tangled webs of bullshit our society has spun.

I'll never forget him and I'll continue to wear his patented "Simon says go fuck yourself" t-shirt with honor and reverence. And should anyone tell me it's inappropriate, I'll do what ol' George would do, tell them, "Simon says go fuck yourself"!

I'll miss you George, the world is a colder, emptier, more humorless place without you. I hope when you get to Heaven, you give 'em Hell!

I Hate DA!

Journal Entry: Thu Jun 19, 2008, 7:45 AM
Yeah. I hate it. I can't take all the BS that this site brings with it's seemingly endless amount of errors, bugs, gitches, defects and other anomalies brought on my "MAINTENANCE TIME". Well to Hell with that!

What is the point of establishing a vast online community and gathering hundreds of thousands of frequent visitors only to keep the site in a constant state of uselessness! It's intolerable!

For the past week I've been experiencing problems such as inability to upload deviations, edit deviations and every EVERY DA page I try to access gets timed out at least three times in succession. What the Hell's going on? I've tried very hard to gain access to the message boards hoping I might find some news about this problem, but like any other problem, it wasn't addressed, par for the course I suppose.

I should also add that DA is the only ONLY site that gives me these problems. I've run many tests on my computer, my internet connection and my firewall. Everything's fine on my end, so if something is wrong, it's on their end, I think I've been patient long enough, DO SOMETHING YOU JACKASSES!!!!

Please tell me there are others who share my problems so that I can cast aside my fears that God isn't bestowing a rather exclusive golden shower upon me. :(

Summer... damn global warming

Journal Entry: Tue Jun 3, 2008, 7:04 AM
It's summer, it's hot, and I hate it.
There's nothing worse than lying in your own bed in the middle of the night with no blanket and a big fan blowing and you still can't sleep cause you're sweating like a pig. A certain amount of humidity is to be expected during the summer season, but this is unreal.

I hate global warming, the fact that we've reached this point as a society and a species, and rather than take steps to resolve the issue, we're making it all the more worse with record-breaking gas prices, it all just pisses me off beyond belief.

I hate oil companies, I hate big business, I hate our president, our vice president, our country, our species, where is our just and benevolent God when we need him?

Sorry, mild heatstroke...

Anyway, if you're tired of my ranting you should check out Lewis Black's new book, Me Of Little Faith [link] . He's one of the best comically irreverent minds of our time.

On the personal side, I'm slowly learning how to use Anime Studio Pro and Adobe Flash, I just wish I had more time for that sort of thing, what can I say, I'm a slow learner, and I have a mild case of ADD.

But to take my mind off all this frustration I've decided to do a few art trades, I'm doing two at the moment, but I'm still looking for one more if anyone is interested.
